How to play Klondike solitaire
The goal is to move all 52 cards to the four foundations, one for each suit, building each from Ace up to King.
- The game starts with seven columns. Only the top card of each column is face up.
- Build down in the columns, alternating red and black: a red 9 goes on a black 10.
- Move a face-up card together with every card on top of it. When the last face-down card of a column is uncovered, it turns over.
- Only a King, or a stack that starts with a King, can go into an empty column.
- When you run out of moves, turn cards from the deck and play the top card of the pile.
- Send Aces to the foundations as soon as they appear, then build each suit up to the King.
Draw 1 or Draw 3
In Draw 1 you turn one card at a time from the deck, so every card gets its turn. In Draw 3 you turn three at a time and can only play the top one, which makes planning much more important. Draw 3 is the classic rule and our default; switch any time in the New game menu.
Winnable deals in three strengths
Every House blend, Double shot and Triple shot deal has at least one solution. We grade them by how often a casual player wins, not by how hard a computer has to think, so House blend feels relaxed and Triple shot asks for real planning. Prefer a pure shuffle? Mystery roast deals any random hand, just like real cards, and some of those cannot be won.
A new daily challenge every day
Each day everyone gets the same winnable deal. Finish it to earn a stamp on your monthly card, compare your time and moves on the leaderboard and keep your streak going.
Tips to win more games
- Uncover face-down cards first, starting with the tallest columns.
- Do not empty a column unless you have a King ready to fill it.
- Keep a few low cards in the columns: moving a black 4 up too early can leave a red 3 with nowhere to go.
- In Draw 3, think about which card a play will bring to the top of the pile on the next pass.
- Stuck? Ask for a hint. If the deal can no longer be won, you can rewind to the last point where it still could.

Can every game be won?
Every House blend, Double shot, Triple shot and daily deal has at least one solution. Mystery roast deals are random shuffles, and like real cards some of them cannot be won.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The table resizes for phones and tablets. Tap a card to send it to the best spot, or drag it where you want it.
Is my game saved?
Your game in progress, statistics and achievements are saved in your browser, so you can close the tab and pick up where you left off.
